Yarn Shop Hopping in Tulsa

Last Friday, hubby and I went on a little road trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He wanted to try a new BBQ place for lunch and see some drag racing that evening, so it opened up the rest of the time for local yarn shop hopping! Of course, this post is about the yarn shops portion of our trip. 🙂

The first stop was at Loops in Tulsa.

I love how the shop is open and has plenty of room to roam. And hubby has a nice place to sit while I’m shopping. 🙂

Of interest, was the Zen Yarn Garden display:

There are lots of finished items so you can see how the yarn works up.

And a wall of tools and notions nicely organized.

Of course, you can’t forget the work area where folks can sit and knit.

And there are books and buttons with another sitting/play area.

I purchased a skein of Zen Yarn Garden’s Serenity Silk Single in colorway Mermaid (that my Ravelry buddy, Ann, decided she wanted to take off my hands) and Freia Super Bulky Ombre in colorway Melon. I have no idea what to make out of it, but I had to have it.

We left to check into our room and hubby got a nap in before we visited The Knitting Nook at 12500 East 86th St N #106, Owasso, Oklahoma (just north of Tulsa).

Another lovely store!

I neglected to get a shot of the big sofas in the sitting area because I was on overload, LOL!

The back room was loaded with yarn-y goodness displayed attractively.

My favorite area was a little side room that contained the largest hoard of Madelinetosh I had ever seen. And not pictured was a good selection of Malabrigo as well!

I ended up getting this stunning Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in colorway Chicory.

And another in colorway Mare.

And one skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Sport in colorway Spectrum.

I also got some good ideas for projects. The shawl here may look familiar to you. It’s Color Affection by Veera Välimäki.

But unlike what I’ve seen a lot on Ravelry, it’s made with The Loom Speck (100% silk)!

And I saw this really cool cowl with daisies on it . . .

. . . and had to buy the “Last One” in the basket because it was so unique. It’s Knit Collage Daisy Chain in colorway Hyacinth. I am not sure I’d make that cowl, but I’m sure I’ll do something fun with it.

Last, but not least, the lovely owner of The Knitting Nook, Debbie, was kind enough to sell me her Cricket Loom stand floor model! Here it is — ready to go!

I hadn’t purchased a stand when I bought the loom because I was uncertain that it would work with my entertainment center chair height where I’d be doing most of the weaving work. When I saw it in person, I was certain it would. Very happy that Debbie was kind enough to sell me her floor model.

Overall, a productive trip!
